Wiping Devices Using iTunes

When a device has been offline for over 30days a remote wipe will be unavailable. 
These devices will need to be wiped using iTunes and Recovery mode.

Some devices still have a home button, to get those into recovery mode, Plug the device into your computer first, then press and hold the home button and power button until the screen in the below image appears.

1. open iTunes on your pc and update if needed
2. Plug in the Apple device directly to your pc
3. Power on the device if not already on.
4. quick press and release "volume up", "volume down" then hold the power button on the right side.
5. continue holding until the device enters recovery mode. (if the below image does not appear the device is not in recovery mode)

6. iTunes should now recognize the device and present the option to "restore" (if another pop up appears select "update and restore")

7. Wait for the update to download and the device to reset.
8. do not unplug your device or allow your computer to go to sleep, you can continue work with this in the background.
