Controlling Job Bookings with Skills

This document contains detailed information about the topics in this article.- Using Skills to Control Capacity in ACP

Because ACP looks for techs with both availability and the appropriate skill to determine if a job can be booked into an Arrival Window, we can use Skills to give better control of the TYPES of jobs we allow to be booked.

By limiting the number of techs assigned a specific skill, or removing a particular skill from all techs, you can limit or even prevent the bookings of specific Job Types.
ACP determines capacity as follows:
  1. What is the Business Unit of the Job?
  2. Are there techs assigned to that Business Unit who have available hours? (Based on Technician Shifts and already booked jobs)
  3. If there are techs with available hours, do they have the required skill to run the job?
If there are available techs with the required skill, the arrival window can be selected.
If none of the techs with availability in the Arrival Window have the required skill, no availability is shown, and that window cannot be selected

Using Capacity Rules to Adjust Job Mix

Using Capacity Rules you can create availability for specific types of jobs by temporarily assigning skills to technicians.
  1. When creating a Capacity Rules, you choose the specific technicians and what skill or skills you want to add to them.
  2. Then you will apply the rule, selecting the dates and times you want have the rule to run.
With the required skills now added to the tech, job types you had previously limited, are now available to book.

For example, if you remove the HVAC Maint 1-5 skill from all technicians, ACP would not allow 1-5 Rejuv jobs to be booked, even when there is available capacity- Why? Because none of the techs have the Skill required to perform that type of work.
A Capacity Rule could be created that assigns the HVAC Maint 1-5 skill to 3 of your technicians. The rule could be applied starting on September 1 and ending on November 1.
A CXR attempting to schedule a 1-5 Yr Rejuv job would now see capacity to schedule between those dates.
