Connecting Power BI to the Datalake (Online Version)

  1. First, go to Power BI using this link: https://app.powerbi.com/home?experience=power-bi.
    1. Use your Goettl login credentials upon logging in as it is connected to Microsoft 365.
      1. If you experience any issues logging in, please contact the Help Me site for additional support.
  2. On the top left of the main screen, click "New Report".

  3. Once you get to the Report creation portion, click the "Publish a Semantic Model" option. This will take you to the datasets Goettl uses within our Lakehouse.
  4. When selecting the Semantic Model, please choose the Core Model marked as "Promoted". This pulls from the Production (PRD) environment location, in where all the data is clean, formatted, and geared towards Goettl related Data Analysis.
  5. Lastly,  you have the freedom to either choose to "Auto-Create report", or "Create a blank report". If you are looking to do something specific within the model, choose "Create a blank report", otherwise, the model will give you a general report on all things data.

Give the model a few seconds to load in all data, and then you're all set!
